Supervisors know best

I find it interesting that most of the people writing about the Salida Now Initiative do not live in Salida. I live in Salida and I am happy county supervisors voted the initiative into effect. It’s important to remember that we have a form of government that is democracy by representation. The idea behind representative democracy is that our elected officials, who study these matters, will make informed decisions on our behalf. The whole county would have voted on this initiative, yet most of the county is not directly affected by the decision. Though some letters have been written from people in Ceres, Turlock and other surrounding cities, I would guess that the general public in those areas don’t know or care about the initiative as much as the county supervisors do.
