SHOOTING AT PIZZA SHOP: Stanislaus County sheriff's deputies arrested two men after a gang fight at a pizza shop on the 1000 block of Kansas Avenue about 1:40 a.m. Sunday, and a man who shot a gun during the fight fled, deputy Royjindar Singh said. He said the shooter handed the gun to Sergio Gonzalez, 19, to hide; security stopped Gonzalez, who was arrested as an accessory after the crime and on suspicion of criminal conspiracy. Deputies arrested the gun's registered owner, Rubio Gonzalez, 27, on suspicion of providing the gun. Singh did not know whether the Gonzalezes were related. No one was injured in the incident, Singh said.

PIT BULL BITES TODDLER: A pit bull bit the face of a 1½-year-old girl Saturday evening, officials said. The child was treated at a hospital for a 4-inch laceration and puncture wounds on her cheek, Modesto police Lt. Jolene Gonzales said. The girl was playing with a family friend's pit bull in her back yard, on the 1200 block of Carver Road, when the dog bit her, Sgt. David Van Diemen said.

STOLEN VAN, PROPERTY RECOVERED: Officials said they recovered a stolen van and property taken from the Home Depot on Hatch Road in Ceres after a chase on Highway 99 on Thursday. California Highway Patrol officers spotted the van in Modesto about midnight. The driver rammed three vehicles, including a gasoline tanker at the Highway 219 exit, officials reported. Officials said David Mendoza, 45, of Fowler and Ralph Cervantez, 50, of Fresno tried to run from the van. Charges included auto theft, possession of stolen property, burglary and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
